Warm Greetings to ALL!
The already existing body of knowledge on Poverty, in particular, reduction thereof is incredible! I applaud all pioneers who still continue to develop innovative theories, solutions aimed at addressing one of the chief threats to humanity. In general, insights shared on various platforms in response to the last blog post are deeply valued, encouraging, thus signal the relevance of this noble conversation. The spirit is respectful, open and constructive. Let us keep it up!
You may agree that Poverty is far from eradication for many known and unknown reasons. The picture becomes more blurred now and in a post-Covid-19 epoch. Hence, in pursuit of an inherent desire to impact positively human livelihoods since a tender age, I took time to investigate one particular aspect which in my view negates universal progress on poverty eradication. The research study is titled: Mind Poverty the root constraint to Poverty Eradication.
Analysis of the image introduced during the last blog post articulates the essence of Mind Poverty (MPO) as follow:
Knows no bounds
Modern creation to Africa
Threat to humanity
”No one can grasp the inner of an apple until the first bite”
In summary, Dr Balbina Daes Pienaar, in short, “Dr Daes” both explicitly and implicitly, in the abstract of the thesis, asserts, as a pre-condition, the need for humanity to comprehend MPO and its effects by first of all-knowing and understanding the following things:
Mind Poverty is a mental condition that can be equated to a disease potent enough to annihilate the universe;
Mind Poverty knows no bounds and afflicts all alike (rich/poor, rural/urban, man/woman, young/old, educated/uneducated and regardless of race);
Human beings must allocate an irreversible Prohibited Immigrant (PI) status to MPO and ensure that not resident in us;
In terms of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Agenda 2030 of the United Nations, Goal Number 1, whose brief concerns the eradication of poverty in all its forms, is the most consequential one.
Most initiatives aimed at the total eradication of poverty are moving at the proverbial snail’s pace; in large measure, this can be attributed to mind poverty;
Central to the study is the assertion that poverty among the peoples of Africa is a modern creation in the sense that people who belonged together lived in harmony and shared everything in the most altruistic way;
Premised on the hypothesis suggesting that mind poverty is a key constraint to poverty eradication, absolute focus need to be applied on prevailing restrictive universal definitions of poverty alongside corresponding measurements and actions. In other words, poverty is fictional, exists in the mind – it is a wholly subjective concept coloured by the perceptions of those who propagate and sustain it.
It is crucial to have a common understanding and acceptance of the existence of a correlation in the way the world defines, measures and acts on poverty;
The dissertation will be presented bi-weekly on a Chapter by Chapter basis, right on Dr Daes’ Website/ Blog. Links to articles on various Chapters of the thesis presented to the academic department of the school of business and economics in partial fulfilment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor in Business Administration, Atlantic International University (AIU) Honolulu, Hawaii, USA will be shared on various social platforms.
Once again welcome and I thank you all for valuable insights that add value to the conversation in your respective personal space.
I am honoured and equally excited to have your company on this journey!
